New server.
We are back again. We got a new server. Our last hosting company pulled the plug without warning. Now, we need the DNS to propagate correctly. It will take up to 48 hours for this to be fully completed. Some people will not be able to see the website until then. Please, keep donating to help us with the server costs. And, for all the e-mails we got, this is probably not true that Rogers is blocking our website.

Pulled the plug without notice? If I were you I would re-read your original contract and any signed updates to the contract. Sounds to me like they broke a contract. Gives you a great lawsuit once this is overwith. Pulling the plug on a website because of traffic without warning *IS* undue cause. Cancellation of service with undue cause is the same as me selling you a car, then coming the next day and taking it back without refund. I would NEVER tolerate that kind of action from any service provider, and never have.

Why did your hosting company pull the plug on you? Was it due to pressure from Rogers because Rogers was worried about the level of interest in your website? The interest is there because now it’s entirely clear comparing AT&T iPhone plans in the U.S. and Rogers’ plans in Canada that we are getting screwed over.
And the number of page views they quote you can use with their meager data plan is totally out of whack with reality. An average web page these days is about 0.5 megabyte not the teeny amount they quote. When you use 10 megs of data transfer in a quick session of google maps, 400 doesn’t sound that great.

They closed the website because we were using too much CPU and the other websites hosted on the same server were choking.
BUT, this doesn’t justify the fact that they closed my account without any notice. Anyway, I’ve changed my hosting company for a better one and I bought a new dedicated server with the donations. Thank you so much for your help guys.

Jeremy: I’ve been working in the telecoms/hosting industry for a long time, and let me say that as a host, you can suspend and disconnect without notice. There’s almost certainly a clause in their ToS that this site will fall under (abuse of resources, etc.).
This is why I don’t believe in overselling and offering 10000GB of disc space and 1000000GB of bandwidth. It’s not realistic.
We’ve taken over serving up ruinediphone.com free of charge from the host that just disconnected them and we are trying our hardest to keep it going.

Cheers for Jason and instelink.com for helping you keep up the charge on this. Canadians have been getting screwed by comms companies for ever. If it is not the rates it is the neutered features.
It is about time we put our money where our mouth is and stop using any of their services not just “don’t buy the Iphone”. Don’t settle for a lesser device as they are screwing us for all of the products they offer(or don’t offer…)
